Text Size

On our site, when we have long passages of text, we have provided +/- buttons on the left hand side of the article text. They will resize the text to betterfit your needs

Many modern browsers allow for the magnification of text. We have listed a few below.

To resize screen text:

Keyboard

  • To increase the text size, press and hold COMMAND (MAC) or CTRL (PC) while pressing +.
  • To decrease the text size, press and hold COMMAND (MAC) or CTRL (PC) while pressing -.
  • To reset the text size, press and COMMAND (MAC) or CTRL (PC) while pressing 0.

Mouse:

  • If your mouse has a scroll wheel, press and hold Ctrl while scrolling up to decrease the text font size and down to increase it.

Full-Page Zoom

To add the Zoom button to your toolbar, simply choose Customize toolbar from the View menu and drag the button onto your toolbar, otherwise you can use the keyboard shortcuts below

  • To increase the text size, press and hold command while pressing +.
  • To decrease the text size, press and hold command while pressing -.
  • To reset the text size, press and hold command while pressing 0.

Minimum Font Size

If you find that text on some websites is too small to read (such as photo captions or fine print) Safari can increase the font size to make it more legible. Just set the minimum font size in the Advanced pane of Safari preferences.

 

 


ieInternet Explorer


This information applies to Windows Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Internet Explorer 8. Please note that all other browsers are not generally supported by Microsoft, and for the most part are very insescure with personal data.

Internet Explorer Zoom lets you enlarge or reduce the view of a webpage. Unlike changing font size, zoom enlarges or reduces everything on the page, including text and images. You can zoom from 10% to 1000%.

On the bottom right of the Internet Explorer screen, click the arrow next to the Change Zoom Level button Picture of the Change Zoom Level button.

To go to a predefined zoom level, click the percentage of enlargement or reduction you want.

To specify a custom level, click Custom. In the Percentage zoom box, type a zoom value, and then click OK.

Other helpful ideas:

  • If you have a mouse with a wheel, hold down the CTRL key, and then scroll the wheel to zoom in or out.
  • If you click the Change Zoom Level button Picture of the Change Zoom Level button, it will cycle through 100%, 125%, and 150%, giving you a quick enlargement of the webpage.
  • From the keyboard you can increase or decrease the zoom value in 10% increments. To zoom in, press CTRL+PLUS SIGN (+). To zoom out, press CTRL+MINUS SIGN (-). To restore the zoom to 100%, press CTRL+0
